Reflections Devotional Week 8 “Chosen”

Welcome to this week’s devotional, Chosen. We connect love with being chosen, don’t we? No one forced God’s hand, He WANTED to draw us close to Himselfin relationship. Isn’t that wonderful?

When my husband and I met, many moons ago, we both had others who were interested in a relationship with each of us– but we chose to be with each other. I was elated that he had chosen me, and he was thrilled that I had chosen him. I have so many wonderful memories of knowing that I had been chosen to be his.

Chosen

Do you know that you are chosen by God?

It’s quite an honor to know that the God of the universe, the Creator of all living things has sought you out and CHOSEN you among the masses.

Chosen

It’s not an accident to be chosen

You didn’t just make it into His Kingdom by then skin of your teeth– You were chosen. God didn’t offer a position to you because no one else was around to do the job. You were chosen by Him.

chosen

You are chosen to show forth His Praise and bring Him Glory, yes…

But you are also chosen to be close to Him, to have a radical relationship and experience with Him, to partake in the divine nature with Him and to become whole with Him!

I am convinced that we do not fully comprehend the potential our relationship with God really has, or else we would be taking it a whole lot more seriously!

Reflections Scripture Cards

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

Isn’t that good?!

Here’s some key words to pay attention to:

Chosen-G1588 (Strong)-eklektos-From G1586; select; by implication favorite: – chosen, elect.

Royal-G934 (Strong)-basileios-From G935; kingly (in nature): – royal

Holy-G40 (Strong)-hagios- sacred (physically pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially consecrated): – (most) holy (one, thing), saint.

Chosen

According to the original language in the Greek, you are a favorite, royal, sacred one of God!

God’s word doesn’t lie, it’s who He says you ARE. For me, knowing this instills such a deeper sense of value in my life. I walk with assured purpose and identity. I am chosen. I am His. Glory!

Webster’s 1828 Dictionary define chosen as:

CHOSEN, pp.

1. Selected from a number; picked out; taken in preference; elected; predestinated; designated to office.
2. Select; distinguished by preference; eminent.

If, like me, you come from a sinful background, this revelation is life-giving. to know that He treasured you so much that He picked YOU. “Taken in preference”, He gathered you to Himself. It wasn’t some fluke or mistake, He CHOSE you to be His. What a blessing!

Pray with me:

Father I praise You, I thank you for choosing me and gathering me to Yourself. May I never take Your choice for granted and may I walk worthy of this life You’ve given me. I will show forth Your Praise and bring glory to Your Name! Help me to be the light You want me to be, In Jesus Name, Amen.

Dive Deeper

Ephesians 1:4-5-“just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,”
Words to pay attention to: Chose, predestined, adoption, kind intention

“You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.” John 15:16

Words to pay attention to: choose, chose, appointed, bear fruit, remain

I’ll see you next week with a new Reflections Truth!
